What to Do When You Can’t Make Your Payments

There comes a time when it can be difficult or impossible taking care of bills and it is important to contact the lender as soon as possible to see what kind of assistance can be offered. Do not ignore your problem and make a call to the lender or lenders. Some will offer a forbearance/hardship program, which means that lender has agreed that you can temporarily stop making payments on that account for a certain amount of time. If they offer that, ask questions such as how is the interest calculated and how will this account be reported to the credit bureaus.
